Wet Lab

Computer Facilities

The wet lab or wet laboratory distinguish classical benchtop experiments handling biological material which are analysed from insilico (computer analysis) or other theoretical work. A separate lab located adjacent to insilico lab is established during 2005-2006 to carryout molecular biology works. The Lab is equipped with Deep freezer, Gel Electrophoresis, Digital Electronic Balance, PCR Thermal Cycler, UV-Transilluminator , Laminar Airflow, Micro oven, Hot Plate, water bath, Vortex Machine, high speed centrifuge, Autoclave, Triple Distillation Unit etc., along with modular lab facilities. The facilities available at this lab is utilized for UG and PG teaching and to carryout the external students project work involves molecular biology. The following research works were recently carried out at this lab

  • Isolation, purification and molecular characterization of bacteriocin produced by Lactobacillus sp. Isolated from goat milk and its antibacterial assays
  • Molecular screening of tetracycline and methicillin resistance gene in Staphylococcus spp. isolated from bovine mastitis
  • Molecular screening of STx virulent gene of Escherichia Coli isolated from Bovine mastitis cases
